Is Chris Carson playing Thursday night?

UPDATE: Carson is officially ACTIVE

Carson was removed from the injury report by the Seahawks ahead of their Thursday night matchup with the Packers. This means that he will be active barring a major surprise. However, there were certainly some questions about what his workload would be after the team ran the ball well against the Rams with Mike Davis and Rashaad Penny.

On Wednesday, Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer confirmed that Carson would continue on as the starter, according to ESPN’s Brady Henderson. That makes it likely that he will continue to see consistent carries, so that should make him an RB2 based on volume. So, hypothetically, any concerns about his status for this game should be alleviated.

WEEK 11 PPR RANKINGS: Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end

Of course, it is still possible – if not, probable – that Davis and Penny will factor into the RB rotation. That said, when Carson has been active, it has been Davis that has served as the primary backup and worked in tandem with him. Penny is often the odd man out. Even after totaling 100-plus yards against the Rams last week, it appears that his carries may be limited once again.

Pete Carroll is known for mixing up his RB rotation, so take nothing for granted. It’s possible that despite all the hype, Carson could get the start but see the other RBs out-touch him. It’s also possible that Carson will see 20-plus touches and completely dominate the backfield rotation. With Carroll at the helm, there’s just no way of knowing what will actually happen.

At the end of the day, the important thing is that Carson will be active and is likely to start. He’s the safest play in that backfield by far, so trusting him as an RB is probably the right move.
