While the top-20 or so wideouts in our rankings are almost always no-brainer plug and plays, the players who can have the biggest effect on whether you win or lose tend to be who you start at WR3/flex. A few players are emerging as consistent WR2/3-level players (Christian Kirk, Chris Olave, DeVonta Smith, Drake London, Curtis Samuel), while others are losing their grips (Brandin Cooks, D.J. Moore) on that status, but we’re not anointing anyone either way quite yet…except for Darnell Mooney (@ Giants in Week 4), who’s well outside the WR3 tier.
Some bubble wideouts who should be in consideration as potential WR3/flex starts this week include Isaiah McKenzie (@ Ravens), Zay Jones (@ Eagles), Mack Hollins (vs. Broncos), Tyler Boyd (vs. Dolphins), Josh Reynolds and DJ Chark (vs. Seahawks), and Allen Lazard and Romeo Doubs (vs. Patriots). Many of these players are available on waiver wires and can make immediate impacts given their matchups and/or target totals.
WEEK 4 PPR RANKINGS:QBs | RBs | WRs | TEs | D/STs | Kicker
Outside of RB Devin Singletary, McKenzie led all Bills’ pass catchers in fantasy points last week, hauling in seven passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. Even in standard formats, McKenzie’s performance boosts his appeal, as the Bills’ pass-heavy offense can support three wideouts. Lazard’s a trusted option of Aaron Rodgers and has caught a TD in back-to-back weeks, but it was Doubs who looked like the Packers’ top receiver most of last Sunday. Hollins has seen steady targets two weeks in a row, while Jones has had two high-target games in the first three weeks. Boyd eclipsed 100 receiving yards in the Bengals’ first win of 2022 last week, and both Reynolds and Chark have had big games this year in the Lions’ surprising offense.
WEEK 4 STANDARD RANKINGS:QBs | RBs | TEs | D/STs | Kicker
We’re still not focusing too much on matchups, as WR defense stats tend to be unreliable this early in the year, but we’re still a little wary of JuJu Smith-Schuster (@ Buccaneers), Allen Robinson (@ 49ers), Rashod Bateman (@ Bills), Robert Woods and Treylon Burks (@ Colts), Adam Thielen (vs. Saints), and Greg Dortch (@ Panthers). It’s tough to bench JuJu, A-Rob, and even Bateman given their offenses, but the rest are risky plays.
WEEK 4 DFS LINEUPS: FanDuel | DraftKings
Several key wideouts failed to suit up in Week 3, while numerous players were in and out of action. Keenan Allen (hamstring), Hunter Renfrow (concussion), Mike Evans (suspension), Chris Godwin (hamstring), Jakobi Meyers (knee), and Julio Jones (knee) were the most notable WRs to miss Week 3, while Garrett Wilson, Tee Higgins, Michael Thomas, Deebo Samuel, and A.J. Green went into the medical tent mid-game. Samuel, Wilson, and Higgins returned to game action while Thomas (foot) and Green (knee) did not.
WEEK 4 DFS: Best values | Best stacks
If Thomas (vs. Vikings) is out, Tre’Quan Smith would make for a decent streamer, while Green’s absence opens the door for Dortch, but we’re worried about his matchup in Carolina. The potential for a Rondale Moore (hamstring) return also dims Dortch’s outlook slightly. DeVante Parker (@ Packers) showed what he could do last week with Meyers out and will once again be in play as a WR3. The return of Evans (and, likely, Godwin) ruins the value of all other Bucs except maybe Russell Gage (vs. Chiefs). If Jones remains out, Gage has flex upside this week. Similarly, if Allen returns, Josh Palmer (@ Texans) will be nothing more than a boom-or-bust flex. If Allen is out, Palmer is a solid WR3.
