“We received sad news in the last few days. My dad met with specialist in Boston and he has an incurable cancer,” Gagne said in a text to TVA reporter Len Lavoie. “We hope a miracle will happen. Right now they’re more important things than hockey and I want to be with my family in Québec City.”
Gagne had scored two goals for the Bruins during a four-game road trip to Arizona and California against the Ducks on Dec. 1 and the Coyotes Dec. 6. He officially took his personal leave of absence Wednesday morning.
