HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU had to find a place in your own city–let alone while out of town–using some really suspect directions? Two recent CD-ROMs, DeLorme’s AAA Map ’n’ Go and Microsoft’s Automap Streets Plus, put the power of a road atlas on your computer. Both interfaces could be a bit more intuitive, but they’re packed with info on hotels, motels, restaurants, museums and tourist centers across the country–plus virtually every street address in the United States. Even if you’re not actually going anywhere, these discs are endlessly fascinating.
