CALL TO THE ‘PEN
Arizona’s Brad Ziegler picked up his second save of the season on Sunday, tossing a scoreless ninth to preserve a 4-3 lead. Addison Reed threw a perfect eighth inning, but he’s still likely several more good appearances away from regaining the closer’s role. Ziegler’s chief competition for saves, Enrique Burgos, surrendered a three-run homer on Saturday night and likely won’t see his number calling in the ninth inning in the foreseeable future. … Houston’s Luke Gregerson picked up saves on both Saturday and Sunday, and while Saturday’s appearance marked his first perfect outing since May 7, things didn’t go quite as well on Sunday. Gregerson allowed a solo homer and a single before finishing off the game. The good news is that he struck out two in both outings, but Gregerson owners would be wise to pick up Chad Qualls as insurance if they have the room. … Shawn Tolleson picked up his third save since Wednesday, striking out the side against the Yankees on Sunday night. Tolleson appears to have locked down the Rangers’ close job, and he likely won’t be giving it up unless he has two or three bad appearances in a row.
WEATHER WATCH
There’s a 65-percent chance of rain in Minneapolis for the Red Sox-Twins. The Rockies-Reds (43-percent chance of rain), Rangers-Indians (38), and Marlins-Pirates (22) could also see some showers.
