People around the world feel the program should come back and have made their feelings known. Five-year-old Bennett Williams saved his allowance of one dollar and sent it to the school to help rebuild their program.

“He looked at me and said, ‘How much money do they need? Would a dollar help?’” his father Brad told ESPN. “I said, ‘Bud, that’s about $22 million short, but why not, we can try.’”

Bennett is an Ohio State fan, but wrote this letter saying, “I love Ohio State but think you should have football too. Here is one dollar to help.”

Although the little guy was a bit short, the school was grateful for the gesture.

Reid Adair, a staffer at UAB, reached out to the family after seeing it on Twitter and wanted to get their address to send Bennett a special gift. Along with UAB swag, he received a personalized note from Adair.

That dollar meant more than any amount ever could.
