Pugh has been making cooking videos from her L.A. home since before the pandemic, though they began receiving a stream of attention in the early months of lockdown as people turned to social media for entertainment and picked up cooking and baking hobbies.
Other than what Pugh described as a “beanie fart salad” she made on Sunday, recent videos see the actress making food ranging from tzatziki to a traditional English roast dinner while dancing along to music and sharing her cooking tips with her viewers, occasionally with a cocktail or glass of wine in hand.
The videos have been praised for their informality and sincerity, as Pugh will often cook without a recipe, or tweak recipes to fit her taste (she’s a big fan of garlic) while including all her cooking mistakes.
Fans find the videos soothing, and they have been described by Eater as “visual Xanax” while Elle has declared the videos “blurry, untimed, messy-haired, overall-wearing, laughing, drinking, dancing, cooking medicine.”
Pugh’s fans flocked to Twitter on Sunday evening following the latest “Cooking with Flo” show that saw her make a bean salad while wearing a bright yellow apron designed by Arianne Phillips, the costume designer behind Pugh’s upcoming movie Don’t Worry Darling co-starring Harry Styles, to share how happy the videos make them.
In the video, Pugh made a salad using chickpeas, butter beans, white onion, and garlic. She added olive oil, chili oil, Cholula hot sauce, salt, pepper, and white wine vinegar.
While explaining that she’s adding garlic to the salad, she tells her viewers: “It’s going to be delicious. Don’t kiss anyone. Or do! It’ll be very… people will know that you’re coming.”
The video ends with Pugh eating her salad while dancing.
