Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said they are still seeking the public’s help in finding whoever was responsible for the triple homicide which occurred in the unincorporated area of Frostproof on Friday, June 17.

The three friends, Damion Tillman, 23, Keven Springfield 30, and Brandon Rollins, 27, were beaten and shot after meeting in two vehicles to go night fishing.

Speaking on Saturday, Judd told reporters the victims “were massacred.”

“I’ve been to a lot of murder scenes in my life, and this ranks amongst the worst,” Judd said.

In a follow-up press conference, Judd said they have received “well over 100” tips from the public, but no arrests have been made and they have still not been able to establish a motive for the killings.

Police originally offered $5,000 for information leading to an arrest. The offer has now been increased to $30,000 thanks to additional contributions from the Florida Dept of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and the Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA).

“We’re investigating this case as if [the victims] were our brothers…because it is somebody’s brother, and we care about that,” Judd said.

“We want to be the voice of those young men who lost their voice on Friday night. Their life was snuffed out by some nasty, evil person or persons.

“And that’s what they are, nasty, evil, ugly, mean, murdering people. I’m angry with whoever would do this to these folks.”

The Polk County Sheriff’s Department said that around 10:06 p.m Rollins had called his father and said “help.”

Rollins’ father knew where the three had gone fishing and immediately left to find them. Rollins’ father arrived at the scene and found his son “barely alive” and the other two victims dead.

The father then went to a nearby convenience store to get help after realizing he had left his cell phone at home while leaving in a hurry to help his son.

The father and a woman at the store then returned to the scene, where they found Rollins deceased. Judd believed the father may have had a “difficult time” trying to find his son’s cell phone to call for help as his officers struggled themselves while combing the crime scene.
