Thomas (ankle) hasn’t played for the Saints since suffering an ankle injury in the team’s season-opening win over the Bucs....

Harrison Butker and Matt Prater are on bye, and considering they’re both owned in more than 75 percent of fantasy leagues, this figures to be a big week for kicker pickups. As we always caution, you shouldn’t use a waiver claim on a kicker, nor should you carry two kickers. As good as Prater has been this year, he’s not worth holding through a bye week. Let him go. If you get him back, it was meant to be....

Even with the bye weeks over, it’s worth mentioning Josh Allen (vs. Patriots), Tom Brady (@ Panthers), and Lamar Jackson (@ Bengals) take a hit in our rankings this week, but as always, you’re likely going to start them anyway if they’re active. Jackson is obviously the most worrisome between his recent slump and his ankle injury, but we all know his high ceiling. The same goes for Brady, who likely killed most of his owners with his complete dud last week....

As we’ll do every week this season with the help of our friends at Fantasy Alarm, let’s break down the top pickups and project how much of your FAAB budget you should bid on them. DOMINATE YOUR LEAGUE: Get the Fantasy Alarm NFL Season Pass! Those of you who have enjoyed the fantasy points provided by the Buccaneers WR trio will be happy to get Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and (hopefully) Antonio Brown (ankle) back, but we do lose Tee Higgins, Ja’Marr Chase, Brandin Cooks, and Kadarius Toney, among others, to byes. In the grand scheme of things, it’s not the worst bye week for pass-catchers. Plenty of studs are still available this week....

Unfortunately, injuries reared their ugly head last week, with Van Jefferson (knee), Rondale Moore (hamstring), and Allen Lazard (ankle) missing the week entirely and Keenan Allen (hamstring), Chris Godwin (hamstring), and Tee Higgins (concussion) getting dinged up during their games. We’ll keep an eye on all of these players this week, as more than a few would be in starting lineups if they’re active. (Update: Godwin is expected to miss a couple weeks, paving the way for Julio Jones to become a steady WR3....

While the top-20 or so wideouts in our rankings are almost always no-brainer plug and plays, the players who can have the biggest effect on whether you win or lose tend to be who you start at WR3/flex. A few players are emerging as consistent WR2/3-level players (Christian Kirk, Chris Olave, DeVonta Smith, Drake London, Curtis Samuel), while others are losing their grips (Brandin Cooks, D.J. Moore) on that status, but we’re not anointing anyone either way quite yet…except for Darnell Mooney (@ Giants in Week 4), who’s well outside the WR3 tier....

In the most explosive offenses, two or three wide receivers from the same team are capable of having high finishes, like Keenan Allen and Mike Williams last year (both top 15 in standard and PPR formats). While they likely aren’t going to be nearly as potent as they were last season, another example of two wideouts producing on the same team occurred in Seattle. Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf finished within the top 20 in both standard and PPR formats....
