But, in what will be worse news for travelers, 477 flights have been canceled altogether. The delay and cancellation figures were reported by the flight tracking website Flight Aware. As of publication time, American Airlines has canceled 211 flights and delayed 144, according to the website’s data....

Doctors have deduced from Elijah’s descriptions the snake that bit Elijah was a venomous water moccasin. “He said like a dark gray with dark spots and a fat head. A lot of the doctors went on their phones and pulled up different ones and every time he picked out one it ended up being the water moccasin snake,” Elijah’s mother, Sanita Bustamante, told News4Jax....

Rudy, the owner of the oceanfront Shore View Hotel in Hollywood, Florida, told WSVN-TV that his parking lot has been regularly used by beachgoers who are not guests of the hotel. “People park in our spaces, even though they say ’tow away’ and everything else,” explained Rudy. “They’ll park in our private property and go to the beach.” On May 25, a man driving a red Ford Mustang parked at the Shore View, apparently ignoring the signs....

Over the past several weeks, Florida has seen a surge of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations. The Sunshine State reported a record number of new COVID-19 cases last week with 23,903. Additionally, Florida recently saw a record number of COVID-19 patients hospitalized as data from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services showed that at least 13,747 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 in the state last week. While speaking with WBNS-TV, Debi Delapaz, a nurse manager at UF Health Jacksonville’s COVID-19 unit, explained that the surge in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations is mostly made up of those who are unvaccinated....

During a recent interview with WESH 2 News in Florida, Spencer Rollyson related how he thought he had fully recovered from the respiratory disease after testing positive for the coronavirus in May but began feeling similar symptoms just a month later. “Little bit of a cough, a slight fever of 99.4 I think for the first couple of days, and then after that I lost smell for about two and a half weeks, and that was my only symptom for the entire two weeks,” Rollyson told the news station....

Henry Junior Harvey, 69, was detained in the early hours of yesterday morning and charged with battery in relation to an incident that took place at roughly 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday inside the Neighborhood Walmart on Pine Island Road, media outlet WFTX reported. Cape Coral police said Harvey was in a queue for the register with his wife when he became angry that the customers in front were not moving fast enough....

Derick Wade Tidwell, 46, of New Port Richey, was detained at about 5:30 p.m. on Monday after “intentionally and unlawfully” pointing an air-powered pellet gun at the victims and saying “I’m going to put you in the ground,” the Pasco Sheriff’s Office said in an arrest report. After he was brought to jail, deputies discovered Tidwell had marijuana in his pocket, which he previously failed to declare to officers....

Video from the scene shows the crowd gathering around the senator, who was protected by officers escorting the couple back to their hotel. The man is simply known as Adam in a video by Vice, who first brought the story to light. Adam lives with his grandparents, Richard and Fay, in a small town northeast of Gainesville called Keystone Heights. Adam said that as a child he was physically abused by his father so bad that he was removed from the home by the Department of Children and Families. He said he developed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from the situation, and that he found comfort in soft pasta shells covered with cheese....

An investigation was launched after the dispatchers from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a report shortly before 8 a.m. about a man seen lying next to a road. The man was confirmed deceased by officers who responded to the scene. The victim has been identified by local law enforcement as Donald Ray Allen, 65, from the Jackson County town of Bascom, just south of the Alabama border. Officers said it appears Allen was on a path called Kirkland Road when he was attacked....

David Paul Wipperman, 61, was arrested on Thursday on charges stemming from an incident last month, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. According to an arrest affidavit by the sheriff’s office, Wipperman got into a road rage incident with the woman at around 5.40 p.m. on October 29, The Tampa Bay Times reported. During the incident, he got out of his Chevy truck and approached the woman, who was driving a Kia sedan....

Joseph Aaron Stream, 27, was detained by deputies from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office on October 11. The parents contacted authorities to report they had learned of his intent to travel from Palm Coast to East Palatka to meet with their child, WJAX reported. The police investigation was sparked in September, when the parents of the victim discovered messages had been sent via Facebook Messenger attempting to solicit sex from their daughter, the sheriff’s office said in a public information release....
