Obviously, nothing happened in Week 1 that will change Travis Kelce (vs. Chargers), Mark Andrews (vs. Dolphins), George Kittle (vs. Seahawks), Darren Waller (vs. Cardinals), and Kyle Pitts (@ Rams) being somewhere in the top five when healthy. Thankfully, all but Kittle (groin) made it through Week 1 healthy and intact. Kittle was at least “questionable” leading up to Sunday’s game, so we’re hoping he can return this week....

Incumbent Representative Daniel Webster won Tuesday’s GOP primary for Florida’s 11th Congressional District, according to the Associated Press. Although Webster won the race with 51 percent of the vote to Loomer’s 44 percent with over 95 percent of ballots counted, Loomer refused to concede and instead suggested that the result was fraudulent. Loomer previously won a Florida Republican primary race for Congress in 2020 but lost to her Democratic opponent, Representative Lois Frankel, by more than 16 points in the general election....
Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers has dispatched half of its office staff into some of its 530 branches across the U.S. this week. They will be at the coalface of the business as cooks and cashiers, while others will be working in recruitment, Bloomberg reported. Raising Cane’s is headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and has 40,000 workers, with plans to expand next year when it plans to open more than 100 restaurants....

The boy’s mother, who says she feels “betrayed,” has called on the District Attorney’s office to investigate. In 2017, Wendell Melton was charged with the murder of his 14-year-old son, Giovanni, in Henderson, Nevada. Wendell, 53, told police he killed Giovanni during an argument over the teen skipping school. House Republicans are requesting an interview with Fauci regarding the origin of the virus, a contentious topic between GOP members and the nation’s top infectious disease expert. Republican Representatives James Comer and Jim Jordan accused the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of “hiding information” about the pandemic’s origin, and top public health officials have dismissed the lab theory as the least likely scenario. In an April 2020 email, Dr. Francis Collins, then director of the NIH, asked Fauci if there was “something NIH can do to help put down this very destructive conspiracy,” according to redacted emails the Republicans released....
A BBC Panorama documentary, titled “Panorama: Fifa, Blatter and Me” and airing Monday, claims sports marketing company ISL allegedly paid off ex-FIFA executive Ricardo Teixeira and former FIFA president Joao Havelange. According to a press release published by the Food and Drug Administration, the partnership involves an agreement between three federal agencies—the FDA, the Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)—and the Food Waste Reduction Alliance, or FWRA. The alliance is led by three major trade associations within the food industry: the Grocery Manufacturers Association, the Food Marketing Institute and the National Restaurant Association. The announcement came out during the 2019 Food Waste Summit in San Francisco and is part of the Winning on Reducing Food Waste Initiative, a collaboration between the USDA, EPA and FDA....
The drug, called Reblozyl, has been approved to treat an inherited condition called beta thalassemia, also known as “Cooley’s anemia.” Bodies of people with beta thalassemia cannot produce a sufficient amount of hemoglobin, “an iron-containing protein in red blood cells” that assists in the movement of oxygen to different organs. Though the condition is rare—affecting only about 1,000 people in the U.S., according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)—it can also be deadly....
