The plan, originally proposed by County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, will allow a nonprofit to issue photo identification cards to immigrants in the country illegally, homeless people, those recently leaving incarceration and any others without access to a government ID. According to the Associated Press, this will allow individuals to get vaccines and library cards and will provide access to storm shelters and more. Instead of the county producing the cards directly, it will provide $200,000 to Branches, a tax-preparation nonprofit, the Miami Herald reported....

Frank McKay, 41, and Adecia Johnson, 38, face felony aggravated child abuse and false imprisonment charges after authorities found they had used zip-ties to routinely bind a 13-year-old to plywood, and forcing the child to sleep without a mattress or any linens, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. The zip-ties were strung together to form a makeshift rope for minor movement. “He was zip-tied to that piece of plywood for at least two months, and more specifically over the last week or so the individuals who were taking care of him were not giving him proper food or linens or a mattress at all,” Kaitlyn Perez, spokesperson for the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, said, according to Fox 13....

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) said 20-year-old Anthony Steven Guevara from Naples was charged with changing a voter’s registration information without permission and unauthorized computer access, both of which are felony charges. According to Guevara’s arrest report, DeSantis discovered the change when he went to his designated polling location to vote on Monday afternoon....

Timothy Miller, 26, is accused of persuading the 12-year-old to get into his white pickup truck after the boy got off his school bus in Boyton Beach, Florida, on August 21. Miller was stopped by two eyewitnesses after they saw the boy jumping out of the vehicle while it was driving down the street. The boy briefly lost consciousness after hitting his head on the pavement while attempting to escape from the suspect....
