Macko was “ambushed” according to police who believe the suspects waited for him to return home. Police said the suspects ransacked the home, but did not reveal what was taken. They left the scene in a black Dodge van. A witness called police after they heard three gunshots. When police arrived at the property, they found Macko with a gunshot wound. In an affidavit, the alleged survivor said that he had started talking with Simmons online before the two eventually arranged a meeting at the Stay Plus Inn in Haines City, Florida, a city about 40 miles southwest of Orlando. James R. Stote, 55, and Phillip J. Augustin, 52, reportedly conspired to receive COVID-19-related small business loans using fraudulent loan applications, according to DOJ documents. After starting with Augustin’s personal company, Clear Vision Music Group, both Stote and Augustin “immediately began working to obtain larger PPP loans for themselves and their associates,” the DOJ said. In total, the pair submitted at least 79 fraudulent loan applications that were worth at least $35 million, and had reportedly planned to submit more before being caught....
