Qelbree, available in viloxazine extended-release capsules, was approved for pediatric patients aged six to 17 last year. This is the first nonstimulant prescription ADHD medication approved for adults in 20 years. The approval is based on positive results from a Phase 3 clinical trial of Qelbree in adults. “We are fully committed to better understanding how to treat complex diseases such as ADHD,” Jack Khattar, president and CEO of Supernus Pharmaceuticals, the company that makes Qelbree, said in a statement....

The agency announced on Monday that they had completed their extensive review of Moderna’s vaccine against the coronavirus. The FDA also announced that it will now be marketed using the name Spikevax. Results were supposedly expected to be released earlier, but more review was said to be needed on the data. “The FDA’s approval of Spikevax is a significant step in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, marking the second vaccine approved to prevent COVID-19....

Hand sanitizers that are made with alcohol can be deadly if enough is ingested, FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn said. “These products could confuse consumers into accidentally ingesting a potentially deadly product,” Hahn said in an FDA news release. “It’s dangerous to add scents with food flavors to hand sanitizers which children could think smells like food, eat and get alcohol poisoning.” The agency said consumers and retailers alerted officials to several hand sanitizer products that were packaged in bottles, cans and pouches that made them look like water, juice, beer, vodka and even baby food....

DOJ attorneys Jonas Geissler and Jared Hager issued the letter Tuesday to Portland’s city attorney and police bureau castigating them for not providing the feds a heads-up about the inflammatory training material before they were released to the press. “The night before, the City informed us for the first time about what the City described as an ongoing internal investigation to determine who authored certain (Rapid Response Team) training slides that have varying degrees of offensive content, incorrect guidance, and false or misleading information related to (the Portland police’s) crowd management policies and practices,” the letter states....

Investigators are questioning ties Haden had with William Singer, who was the alleged organizer of a cheating scheme that altered test scores that helped students get into universities. Athletic officials were accused of collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars to help students get into schools like USC, Stanford, UCLA, Georgetown and Wake Forest, disguising them as recruits. Haden hasn’t been charged for any part of the scandal and just recently become a person of interest in the case, the WSJ reported....
