Biden signed the Further Additional Extending Government Funding Act, which will allow appropriations for federal agencies to be distributed through March 11, preventing a government shutdown from occurring, at least for now. While the bill was passed to stop a potential shutdown, one could still be possible without bipartisan cooperation. The U.S. Senate had originally passed the bill on Thursday. While some absences by notable Democrats and increased demands from Republicans clouded the Senate before the vote, the bill was eventually passed by a tally of 65 to 27....

U.S. District Judge Loretta Biggs in Winston-Salem said that the university uses a “highly individualized, holistic admissions program” and that no student was admitted simply because of their race in the 161-page ruling. “While no student can or should be admitted to this University, or any other, based solely on race, because race is so interwoven in every aspect of the lived experience of minority students, to ignore it, reduce its importance and measure it only by statistical models as Students for Fair Admissions has done, misses important context to include obscuring racial barriers and obstacles that have been faced, overcome and are yet to be overcome,” Biggs said....

James Peterson, a federal judge in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, said on Wednesday that he would delay ruling on the matter until after the November 3 national elections, according to The Hill. Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon revealed that a driver was identified and questioned in relation to the up to 400 boxes that were found in a ravine last Wednesday. According to local news station WIAT (CBS42), each package dumping is one count of property theft against FedEx. “Investigators have determined that the driver dumped at least six times making FedEx a victim of six different Theft of Property cases,” said Moon in a statement on social media....

Federal prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan executed the search warrant on Giuliani’s Upper East Side apartment Wednesday and seized numerous electronic devices, The New York Times first reported.
