The FDA on Wednesday announced another toxin that can be as deadly as methanol. That toxin is called 1-propanol, which can depress the central nervous system. The FDA stated some products are labeled to contain ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, but have tested positive for 1-propanol contamination. “The agency urges consumers not to use these 1-propanol-contaminated products and has expanded its do-not-use list of hand sanitizers … that are or may be contaminated with 1-propanol, in addition to other hand sanitizers the agency is urging consumers not to use,” the FDA said in a statement....
The injectable medication was originally approved for type 2 diabetes, and was approved to treat adult obesity in 2014. Other than liraglutide, orlistat and phentermine are the only FDA-approved medications for the treatment of obesity in adolescents. Orlistat is approved for children over the age of 12; phentermine can be used over the age of 16. Orlistat blocks the absorption of dietary fat, and phentermine is a stimulant that decreases appetite, explains Joseph Skelton, MD, a professor of pediatrics at Wake Forest School of Medicine, who was not affiliated with the research....
During a routine examination of international mail shipments, the FDA tested samples of Big Penis, an over-the-counter supplement promoted for sexual enhancement. It found at least one surprising ingredient: “FDA laboratory analysis confirmed that Big Penis contains sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, an FDA-approved prescription drug for erectile dysfunction,” the agency explained in a release. “This undeclared ingredient may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs, such as nitroglycerin, and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels....

According to the decision from the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, Esteban Manzanares, a Border Patrol agent who took his own life as law enforcement officers raided his apartment after the assaults, was not acting within his official capacity when he attacked the three migrants—a mother, her 15-year-old daughter and a 14-year-old family friend. Manzanares, who was 32 at the time, had attempted to bury the daughter alive and brought the family’s friend back to his apartment where he sexually assaulted her....
The four officers—Derek Chauvin, Thomas Lane, J. Kueng and Tou Thao—were indicted by a federal grand jury in May. The charges allege they disregarded Floyd’s rights while under the government’s authority as they pinned him, unresisting and handcuffed, to the ground. Chauvin has yet to be sentenced after being convicted of murder and manslaughter in Minnesota state court.
