This is the ninth Women’s World Cup in history and will be the biggest yet with 32 teams competing across 64 games. The tournament is scheduled to kick off on July 20, 2023 in Auckland, New Zealand before concluding on August 20 in Sydney, Australia. The USA will enter this latest Women’s World Cup as defending champions, while England are chasing their first title having been crowned 2022 European champions....

No performance was more touching or more elegant than Michelle Kwan’s, whose enduring popularity was evident. A September 15, 2021, FEC filing lists a “Tucker Carlson” as the contributor of a $250 donation to “Greene for Congress,” the name of Greene’s election campaign. The filing lists “Fox News” as the contributor’s employer. At the time of the donation, Greene was holding a giveaway for the rifle....

While the elements in this coming-of-age saga may seem familiar–losing one’s virginity to a doo-wop beat, payola in the music biz–Eszterhas brings a fresh, immigrant’s-eye perspective to his tale....

The other mystery, however, is why anybody thought transposing this Shakespeare tragedy of jealousy, pride and evil into high-school terms was such a hot idea. Frankly, I’ve always found the melodramatic “plot” of “Othello” torturous to sit through. What’s great about it is the language, and that’s nowhere to be found in director Tim Blake Nelson and writer Brad Kaaya’s ambitious but muddled movie. Othello is now high-school basketball star Odin (Mekhi Phifer), the only black student at an elite prep school....

Jackson explained his outlook for the Knicks as president, including Carmelo Anthony's free agency, Mike Woodson's job status and moves the Knicks will make to improve their ability to win in the near future. Crawford hasn't forgotten that path, or any of his former coaches. Sen. Barack Obama has a good organization here. He hasn’t visited much, and his campaign is downplaying this state’s importance in the race for the nomination, which he has almost wrapped up. Wayne Doyle, fire chief of Mississippi’s Lowndes County District Volunteer Fire Department, passed away on Tuesday after a weeks-long battle with COVID-19. His family pursued legal action to include ivermectin, a controversial anti-parasitic drug, for his care plan and got the go-ahead to move him out of a hospital so that ivermectin could be administered, per WTVA. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved ivermectin for certain uses but does not recommend using it to treat COVID-19....

“Aggressive suppression efforts and favorable weather conditions (have) provided opportunities to make gains in obtaining full containment,” the Los Angeles County Fire Department said in a statement published in USA Today. “Full extinguishment is expected.” Shortly after midnight on Wednesday, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), California’s largest power utility, initially shut down power for 750,000 customers across 34 counties before the fires began, citing “widespread, severe wind” that only exacerbated conditions that were likely to start fires....
