Clearwater Police Department officers arrested 22-year-old motorcyclist Taylor William Beverly on Saturday night after he ran a red light and sped away as police tried to pull him over. Beverly, riding a white motorcycle, allegedly made eye contact with police before beginning the chase. Following his arrest, Beverly told officers that he had been trying to “show off” during a first date with the woman who was riding as a passenger on the back of his motorcycle....

Andrew Aman, 22, was detained after his roommate informed Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office about his alleged plan to carry out the attack at the Bellamy Elementary School in Tampa. According to Fox 13, the sheriff’s office issued a document warning deputies about the planned attack, but did not inform the school. The document said Aman had taken a kitchen knife from his home was intending to “stab as many children as possible” and that “if adults get in the way, he planned to stab them as well....

A total of 841 manatee deaths were recorded by Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Commission between January 1 and July 2. This means that in the first half of 2021, the mortality figure has surpassed the previous highest statewide number of 830 for the whole of 2013. Most of the deaths are thought to have occurred during migration due to a loss of seagrass—a crucial food source for the animals....

On June 16, Florida reported 2,783 newly confirmed cases of coronavirus, its highest ever daily toll of new cases since it began reporting them on March 14. Nevertheless, the state began the second phase of its reopening on June 5, allowing bars, taverns and pubs to operate at 50 percent capacity in all but three counties: Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach. Local officials in those three counties issued their own reopening timelines....

The latest daily case count in Florida is the highest it’s been since the outbreak began. It is nearly a 30 percent increase from Wednesday, which saw around 1,200 new infections. Thursday’s daily case count also marks a nearly 70 percent increase on the figure reported since the state reopened on May 5, when 542 new cases were recorded. Florida’s daily case count has surpassed 1,000 six times in the past seven days, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University....

The state Senate declared Florida State national champions on Friday, passing the resolution — introduced by Sen. Joe Gruters — 37-2. It declared FSU champions because of the cancellation of the ACC and NCAA tournaments, plus the success of the Seminoles in 2019-20. They went 26-5 in the regular season, earning the top seed in the ACC Tournament and a No. 4 ranking in the latest AP Poll. “The Florida State University Seminoles basketball team, by virtue of tremendous skill on the court and the heart and spirit shown by the players and coaches this basketball season, is declared the 2020 National College Athletic Association basketball champions by default upon cancellation of the NCAA tournament due to concerns raised by the spread of the novel coronavirus COVID-19,” the resolution reads....

Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson was talking to reporters last week after arresting Brandon J. Harris, 32, who had allegedly broken into several homes in Pace before being stopped by officers, according to the Pensacola Daily News. Harris, the newspaper reports, was arrested on April 21 after a homeowner fired multiple gunshots at the alleged home invader. Harris has been charged with attempted burglary with assault, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, attempted larceny, and several other charges, according to Fox News....

Thursday afternoon, a truck with migrants seeking to eventually reach America was reportedly speeding in the state of Chiapas in southern Mexico and flipped after losing control rounding a curve, hitting a bridge and causing dozens of people to fall out of the back of the truck. Following the crash, police have struggled to identify the victims and notify the families, which has led to other people filling that void, with some families posting requests online for anyone with information to contact them....

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department (VCSD) said officers were alerted to reports of a dog bite at a home in the 100 block of Manzanita Lane at about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 30. According to NBC Los Angeles, the 16-year-old girl and her mother were both attacked by dogs after the latter tried to intervene. The snake was safely relocated by the team at Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7, a business which specializes in removing snakes from properties. Footage of the snake catch, posted to the group’s Facebook page on Wednesday, shows how a “nice sized” carpet python was huddled away in an area between a door frame and a roof space at the property. Our lineup is stack-heavy this week, as we have a couple of traditional stacks at QB-WR and RB-DEF. However, we also went with a contra-stack at RB-WR, as we are targeting a matchup that could be extremely favorable for the Cowboys. We also spread our money around this time and paid no more than $8,400 for any player. That allowed us to target top-tier players at a couple of different positions, and that could pay off big-time for this lineup....

We went with another QB-WR stack this week and targeted the Bengals. The Steelers have been bad against the pass this year and though they just limited the Falcons, they may have more trouble against a divisional foe. Elsewhere, we spent up on one player at RB and WR to balance our lineup, and then we targeted a bunch of lower-cost receivers in great matchups. That should give us a chance to compete, especially since many of the targeted games project to be high-scoring affairs....
