The “toy toss” is an annual event for the Division II Arkansas-Fort Smith squad in which fans bring a stuffed toy to donate to a child in need. After the Lions make their first basket of the game, fans are directed to throw their donations onto the court, much like hockey fans do for hat tricks. Cheerleaders and student workers at the school scoop up all of the tossed toys and donate them to a local Salvation Army, who then doles them out to deserving kids in the area just in time for the holidays....

Our list features a mix of prospects, bounce-back candidates, and undervalued veterans. There will plenty of prospects worth watching, too, as 1B is a prime position for cheap power from a rookie. You probably won’t need to draft any of the guys on this list, especially if your league doesn’t have a CI spot, but it never hurts to have bench depth/power at the UTIL position. It’s easy to think you’re set at 1B if you have an established veteran, but even if you’re “getting by” with that player, you could be missing out on someone better who’s having a breakout season....

Please note: This isn’t a “Do Not Draft” list. All of the players listed below have plenty of value and could easily have good seasons. However, all have red flags (as mentioned below), be it injury worries or overly optimistic preseason rankings, which creates more risk than they might be worth. In many cases, we say “yes.” With the exception of Farrow, some of these guys have already proven quite a bit, and because of favorable matchups (coupled with bad matchups for your normal starters), we think they’re worth using. As always, start-sit decisions should be made on a case-by-case basis, with other factors, mainly league scoring settings, playing a role, but whether you’re chasing points or you’re just looking for guys with higher floors than your normal starters, we have some suggestions....
