West Palm Beach police arrested Artissua Lafaye Paulk, 43, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service. The woman was walking her bike across Royal Park Bridge when the span opened, causing the victim to fall, the police department said on Facebook. The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office deputy was shot more than once during an encounter about six miles south of Salem, a Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson told WCJB. Byron McIntyre, 41, was arrested after a Marion County sheriff’s deputy was notified by a concerned neighbor who said they saw a child inside an address asking for help. When the deputy went round to the home, the child allegedly said that McIntyre had locked him inside a room before leaving for Kissimmee, according to an arrest report seen by Ocala-News. The child said the suspect would often leave him alone for hours at a time, putting screws in the glass sliding doors so he can’t leave....

According to jail inmate records, Gary Van Ryswyk, of Sebring, was detained by officers from the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office on Monday and charged with practicing medicine without a license resulting in bodily injury, a second-degree felony. Robert Hayes, 39, was found guilty on Tuesday on three counts of first-degree murder for the slaying of three women who were working as prostitutes while he attended Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, the Associated Press reported. After eight hours of deliberation, Hayes was found guilty in the deaths of Laquetta Gunther, 45, who was found nude lying face down in an alley between two buildings on Christmas Day in 2005....

Eric Pierson is charged with first-degree murder for the death of Erika Verdecia, according to News4Jax. Verdecia’s corpse was found outside Fort Lauderdale on Saturday after a three-week search. Police reported that, following his arrest, Pierson confessed to stabbing the woman four times with a screwdriver on September 25. In 2020, he received an early release after serving 27 years of a 40-year sentence for brutally beating and strangling Kristina Whitaker, 17, to death in 1993....
