When police arrived and located the man, he took off running from the officers and they pursued him. “They caught up to him as they saw him get into somebody’s vehicle, somebody was driving into the parking lot, he jumped into the passenger side of that vehicle,” Smith said....

According to a press release from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, on Sunday, authorities responded to a call of a stolen ambulance near the area of Port Court in Spring Hill. The ambulance is owned by the Hernando County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services, according to the release. At around 12:27 p.m. local time, the ambulance was parked in the ambulance bay of the Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Florida, when it was taken....

Frederic Sterry Smith, 62, of St. Augustine, Florida, was charged with simple battery following the incident at the Milagro On 12 Latin Kitchen restaurant on July 27. Smith was out dining with a female companion when he allegedly wrote “if he wasn’t gay,” and a zero-dollar tip on his waiter’s receipt, reports Naples Daily News. The employee handed the receipt to his manager, who then walked outside to speak to Smith about it....

Florida could actually see up to 150,000 COVID cases a day, including both symptomatic and asymptomatic infections, according to the report compiled by three UF researchers. “The number of projected infections is much larger than the number of reported cases because many infections are not reported, especially if they are asymptomatic or mild,” the report said. UF researchers also predict that this wave of COVID will be less lethal than the Delta variant, WESH reported....

Louis Henry Anderson Jr., 15, was detained by deputies from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday after the department received a tip-off about the concerning messages at approximately 10:35 p.m. the same day, police said in a Facebook post yesterday. Anderson Jr., who is a student at James Madison Preparatory High, allegedly wrote in a group chat about bringing a firearm to his school and shooting people, WTXL reported....

As reported by Click Orlando, all parks at Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World hit their limited capacity on Saturday, September 5. Universal Studios, Island of Adventure and Volcano Bay all reached their 50 percent capacity on both Saturday and Sunday, forcing them to close for new attendees. Volcano Bay also reached capacity again Monday, reported WFTV. Although it is unclear what the new limits are after Walt Disney parks reopened in July, Disney executive George Kalogridis previously said the company was considering reopening with only 20 to 30 percent capacity....

Lois Jean Gleeson, of New Port Richey, was detained by deputies from the Pasco Sheriff’s Office shortly before midnight on Wednesday during a traffic stop. During questioning, police spotted a “ripped plastic baggie with a crystal substance all over the driver’s seat and floor board.” The deputies quickly identified Gleeson as a “prolific offender” who was “known to drive with her license suspended or revoked, an arrest report said....

Melissa Ann Henson, of Maple Pond Court in Trinity, was detained by deputies from the Pasco Sheriff’s Office yesterday and charged with attempted felony murder/homicide and tampering with a witness, according to an arrest report shared with media, including Newsweek. Police said the incident occurred at roughly 12:30 a.m. yesterday after the woman went to the victim’s home following an argument between the victim and her sister via text message....
